tachAdapter Questions and Answers

Question

Answer

What is the difference between Single-Fire and Dual-Fire tachAdapters? The single-fire adapter has 2 wires to connect to 2 coil signals. A single-fire adapter will work on either Single or Dual-fire ignition systems. In a Dual-Fire application you need only connect one coil signal.
What if I don't know if my bike is Dual-fire or Single-Fire? Use a Single-fire adapter. Hook only one wire to a coil signal. Test the tachometer. If the tachometer reads 1/2 the expected value, then you have a Single-fire system. Connect the other wire to the other coil signal. Otherwise you can leave the 2nd coil wire unconnected.
